Question by cream19031: how do i stop the pain during sex with a copper iud?
i got a copper iud put in a few weeks ago and when i have sex it hurts more then normal. When i try to check for the string it feels like its curled to the back and it feels a little swollen. How do i stop the pain during sex? What should i do? Also i havent been able to have an orgasam is this connected?

You should not have pain during sex at all with the IUD. The only time I experienced pain was when I first got mine, but I just had to change angles and we haven't had trouble since. You should talk to your physician and have them take a look. The area should not be swollen either, so they might need to check for infection or other problems. Perhaps the IUD is not a good fit and another method of contraception is necessary. He or she might also be able to give you some advice on how to deal with the issue of pain if it is not a problem with the IUD.
